‘He’s batman, I’m the robin!’ Luka Doncic gets honest about playing with Kyrie Irving in Dallas Mavericks

Kyrie Irving ‘s entry into the Dallas Mavericks has brought out some of the best basketball in Luka Doncic . The 25-year-old has been able to unlock a different level in his play this season. Doncic considers Irving the Batman of the Dallas Mavericks. And he sees himself as Robin. This means the chemistry they have built up over the years has enabled them to thrive as a duo.

That chemistry was evident in tonight’s game against the Sacramento Kings. In their fifth straight win, Luka Doncic again led the scoring for his team. However, he talked about Kyrie Irving‘s impact has helped him score, in the post-game interview.

He’s the Batman, I’m the Robin. Having him on our team it’s just amazing man. Outside basketball he’s just a great person and….. we all get along so well. The chemistry is really good right now. Luka Doncic said

Doncic alluded that the presence of Irving has elevated everyone on their team. And their off-court chemistry has brought out the best in both of them this season.

When Kyrie Irving was traded in by the Dallas Mavericks, their whole notion was to get that second scorer. A player who can dominate a game in case Doncic has a bad night. The decision has paid off as teams cannot double team the Slovenian as they could. His ability to pass makes Irving available to score.

Doncic credits their chemistry as one of the reasons for their 5-game winning streak. Suggesting that Irving is the Batman to his Robin means Doncic feels Irving is the alpha dog of the team. After all, the former champion and perennial All-Star knows what it takes to win.

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving’s chemistry crucial to target a championship

Luka Doncic is putting up unheard-of numbers this season. A big part of that is due to the presence of Kyrie Irving on the court. Now defenders cannot double-team either of them. The chemistry the former Euro League MVP is talking about will help them down the stretch as they both target the NBA Championship.

Doncic credits Irving’s ability to take over games as an example of what they need heading into the playoffs. Elite play from both of these superstars has been crucial to their rise up the playoff bracket. Avoiding a play-in scenario was the first requirement. And if they can continue this hot hand, it should not be a problem.

Once the playoffs begin, this Batman and Robin combination will look to use their chemistry to challenge for the top step. After all, that is the goal for which the Dallas Mavericks paid good value for Irving.
