The Green Bay Packers are heading into the 2024 season with a ton of optimism surrounding their team. Jordan Love’s first year under center “only” resulted in being one of the final eight teams standing in the league.
Expectations will be even higher next season, and the front office knows that. The team has an open vacancy at their defensive coordinator position, and it’s likely that the new DC will have a short leash. Packers fans are ready for their defense to be great. While the Packers’ defense may have seemed hit or miss this past season, they certainly have some studs. One of those studs was recognized today.
Green Bay Packers’ Defensive Star Gets Huge News
According to the Green Bay Packers:
Green Bay Packers DL Kenny Clark has been named to the Pro Bowl Games, the league announced today. He replaces San Francisco 49ers DL Javon Hargrave, who is unable to participate due to the Super Bowl.
This is Clark’s third trip to the Pro Bowl after being an original selection in 2021 and an injury replacement in 2019. He was also named an alternate in 2018. Clark joins Henry Jordan (1960-61, 1963, 1966) as the only Packers defensive tackles to make three-plus Pro Bowls.
Clark started all 17 regular-season games in 2023, recording a career-best 7.5 sacks (No. 3 on the team), a team-best nine tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, three passes defensed (tied career high, 2018) and 16 QB hits (No. 3 on the team). He finished No. 2 on the team with 50 NextGenStat QB pressures in 2023.
Clark Has Been A Pillar For This Defense For Years
This is Clark’s third Pro Bowl appearance. In 2021, Clark was an original selection, and in 2019, he was an injury replacement. Additionally, he was named an alternate in 2018.
He is the only the second Packers defensive tackle with three or more Pro Bowl appearances, joining Henry Jordan (1960-61, 1963, 1966).
Clark was selected with the No. 27 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft out of UCLA. He is currently 28 years old and seems to have plenty left in the tank to give the Packers many more years of elite play.
