The Tampa Bay Lightning have some big decisions to make this offseason. Superstar forward Steven Stamkos is due for his next contract, while other notable players like Anthony Duclair and Matt Dumba are pending UFAs. However, the Lightning have limited cap space and could make trades to give them more flexibility this offseason because of it.

Due to this, let’s discuss two potential Lightning players who could be moved during the 2024 NHL Offseason.

Lightning’ Conor Sheary

When the Lightning signed Conor Sheary to a three-year, $6 million deal, the expectation was that he would provide strong secondary scoring to their middle six. However, the veteran winger struggled in his first season with the Bolts, posting four goals, 15 points, and a minus-3 rating in 57 games.

Lightning Sheary, 31, had a no-trade clause for this season, but it will now change to a 16-team trade list for the 2024-25 season and onward. Given how this year went, perhaps the Massachusetts native could be open to a change of scenery. This is especially so when noting that he was scratched down the stretch and did not play a single playoff game.

Lightning’ Tanner Jeannot

Tanner Jeannot is another Lightning forward to pay very close attention to this offseason. The 26-year-old winger had a quiet year for the Lightning, posting just seven goals and seven assists in 55 games.

While the Lightning having Jeannot’s grit and toughness is certainly not bad, his $2.665 million cap hit is high for a team that needs more cap space. Thus, the Lightning could look to move out his salary, even if they gave up a lot to get him.
