Chiefs TE Travis Kelce calls Nick Allegretti one of his favorite teammates of all time

The NFL offseason consists of many old faces in new places as the Kansas City Chiefs gained and lost talent during the first week. The friendships forged by teammates, especially Super Bowl-winning teams, last beyond the jersey they wear but the memories they create.

Chiefs Travis Kelce: Nick Allegretti is 'one of my favorite teammates'

In the latest episode of “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce,” Travis shared his thoughts on long-time teammate Nick Allegretti leaving the Chiefs in free agency.

“You can’t have everything go your way all the time. The Chiefs lost one of my favorite [expletive] teammates of all time,” Kelce explained. “The guy who tears his UCL and plays the rest of the Super Bowl, screaming at the sideline to get him an elbow brace. Nicky Allegretti is expected to sign in DC; man, the Washington Commanders might have got him.”

Allegretti signed a three-year, 16-million-dollar deal with the Washington Commanders at the start of free agency. The deal would allow the veteran offensive lineman to compete for a starting position.

“He’s going to team back up with another of my favorite teammates of all time, Andrew Wylie. I love those dudes, man. I couldn’t be happier for Nicky,” Kelce said. “Such an awesome dude in the building and one of the most accountable guys on and off the field.

Kelce mentioned his fun celebrating the Super Bowl LVIII victory in Las Vegas with Allegretti without getting too deep into details. Still, it was a clear indication of their friendship.

“It was a fun last hoorah if you’re not with us next year, Nicky. I love you, brother, and I wish you the best of luck, dude.”

The Chiefs will miss Allegretti’s grit, but it’s clear that he left a mark on Travis and his former teammates.
