Star Free Agent Reveals How Jerry Jones Blew Potential Cowboys Signing

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t done much to improve the team in free agency. What star wanted to join Dallas in 2024?

The Dallas Cowboys have sat back and watched as impactful players in the league inked new deals in free agency. This has been especially noteworthy at running back after Dallas decided to let Tony Pollard walk as a free agen.

There were some very intriguing options on the market to replace Pollard though, highlighted by Derrick Henry.

Dallas missing out on Henry already hurt, but hearing the way Jerry Jones completely blew the situation makes it even worse.

The former Tennessee Titan running back expressed he would have loved to join the Cowboys. He lives in Texas during the offseason and believed it could have been a terrific fit. Henry went on the “Pivot” podcast and talked about how Dallas never reached out to him.

He said, “I thought it’d been some type of reach out, some type of talks or whatever. They never reached out, you know what I’m saying? I don’t really know too much about their organization. All I know is what I hear. I was talking to my agent. They weren’t really interested. It is what it is.”

Cowboys News: Dallas Never Reached Out to RB Derrick Henry

This is something that will definitely annoy fans due to the dire need to improve the position. Henry is still a highly productive playmaker and could have immediately added juice to the offense.

In his eight-year career, Henry racked up 9,502 rushing yards and 90 rushing scores. He’s also notched 1,000-plus rushing yards in five seasons and finished with double-digit rushing scores in six straight years.

Henry ended up signing with the Baltimore Ravens on a two-year, $16 million deal that could go up to $20 million.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are still in the market for a lead tailback, and they seem resigned to taking one in the draft.

Nonetheless, Dallas has one of the best rosters in the NFL. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Cowboys have the fifth-highest odds (+1300) to win the Super Bowl. If you like these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and take advantage of your sign-up bonus.
